Patagonia
is an "outdoor" clothing brand, clothing specially designed
for outdoor sports, but not only. Indeed, the brand
has won over increasing numbers of customers, especially those who love street-wear, who
are delighted to be offered quality products, from a brand that is
committed to the environment, and that is exactly their style. Indeed
, Patagonia presents sweaters, t-shirts, coats and underwear
in a fairly simple style with a slightly urban touch. The brand pays particular attention to the
quality and lifespan of its products, and even organises
sewing workshops, to enable clients to repair their
clothes. With a wide range of colors and technical fabrics, Patagonia is
a reference in its field. Wear your Patagonia down jacket with
cargo pants and a pair of ranger boots.
The history of Patagonia is essentially linked to its founder, Yvon Chouinard. When he discovered climbing in 1953, at the age of 14, he fell madly in love with the sport. At the time, he was a member of a falcon training club, and in order to reach the areas frequented by these birds of prey, he had to abseil up and down the cliffs of California. It was while climbing that Yvon Chouinard realised that there was no clothing, or underwear, that was warm and thin enough to allow climbers to climb with complete freedom of movement. So he created Patagonia, and developed warm underwear made of polypropylene to let moisture through. In its catalogues, the brand cleverly explained to its customers the principle of intelligent and practical layering. This consisted of wearing a warm undergarment next to the skin to wick away perspiration, a middle garment to preserve warmth, and an outer jacket to protect against wind and rain (a concept found in the "3 in 1" parka). Patagonia has educated climbers, but not only that, as the brand is constantly innovating in outdoor clothing. Since the 1980s, the brand has been strongly committed to the protection of flora and fauna, and has launched numerous environmental campaigns. For example, in 2013, Patagonia decided to launch the "Worn Wear Program", a tour criss-crossing Europe and offering everyone to come and repair their clothes on board a small truck, whatever the brand.
